SINGAPORE, 2 SEPTEMBER 2024 — As the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix 2024 approaches, the thrill and anticipation builds both on and off the racetrack. As part of the celebration, DZE Asia Pte Ltd and the Dino Zoli Foundation offer a fresh perspective on the excitement with “Art in Motion: AI Creatives at the Singapore Night Race.” Held from 18 to 24 September 2024 at The Arts House, the exhibition aims to create an immersive and thought-provoking experience, focusing on three key elements: climate change, the prevalence of artificial intelligence (AI), and sustainability — set against the dynamic backdrop of the Marina Bay Street Circuit. Curated by Nadia Stefanel, the exhibition will feature digital artworks by artists experimenting with innovative AI tools.
Leveraging the Power of AI
“Art in Motion: AI Creatives at the Singapore Night Race” explores AI’s influence on digital artistry, highlighting its impact on both our lives and technological progress. The exhibition reflects on AI’s dual nature by showcasing both our innovation and impulsivity, while also considering humanity’s environmental impact through creative expression. It also aims to explore future possibilities and solutions.

Stefanel stated, “Singapore’s recognition as the second best AI hub globally further underscores the relevance of exploring AI in the context of art. There is a noticeable trend of artists utilising AI not just as a tool, but as a creative partner. As a result, the upcoming exhibition organised by the Dino Zoli Foundation and DZE Asia will serve as a platform to showcase the cutting-edge intersection of art and AI, highlighting the transformative potential of technology in the realm of creativity.”
A Curated Selection of Artistic Talents
This year’s exhibition will present the works of six artists from Italy and Singapore, each bringing a distinctive and varied perspective on the integration of AI in art.
The exhibition will feature auditory, visual, and experimental artworks, and serves as a platform for artists to connect, share ideas, and collaborate across geographical and cultural divides.
Martin Romeo

Italo-Argentinian visual artist Martin Romeo presents “Anthropic Cloud”, an interactive video created with CGI, AI techniques and stereo audio. Known for exploring the connection between nature, technology, and the body through immersive media, Romeo uses AI in his work to delve into environmental and human events. By suspending the video over a runway in a static space-time dimension created with Artificial Intelligence, it tracks the Singapore sky during the Grand Prix event, triggering a pink cloud on the ground whenever a flying object passes nearby.
Debora Hirsch
Debora Hirsch’s “Plantalia” touches on topics of humanity’s bond with nature
Debora Hirsch, an artist and painting professor in Italy, often explores themes of nature and humanity’s connection. In her work “Plantalia,” which features endangered plants immortalised through AI and art, Hirsch delves into the relationship between nature and urban environments, emphasising the crucial role of protected habitats in preserving biodiversity. This project was inspired by her knowledge of plant species also discovered in Singapore’s protected reserves, such as Bukit Timah Nature Reserve and Central Catchment Nature Reserve. Hirsch’s work highlights the urgency of conservation efforts in the face of urbanisation and the need for a global commitment to ensure the survival of diverse plant species worldwide.
Giuseppe Ragazzini

Giuseppe Ragazzini unveils his Race edition of interactive kinetic sculpture, “The Face Wheels,” at this exhibition. Ragazzini, a renowned Italian painter, set designer, and visual artist, presents this captivating work, featuring five discs that each represent a different facial component: the mouth, nose, eyes, and head generated by AI and artistically processed by the artist. Modelled after the wheel rims of a race car, the discs can be controlled and rotated, allowing an impressive 1,024 unique face combinations to be formed. Each disc is inspired by iconic personalities within the world of Formula 1, seamlessly blending art and the sport.
Francesca Fini

Italian artist Francesca Fini often showcases a blend of traditional media, lo-fi technology, interaction design devices, and generative audio-visual elements. Extensively trained as a digital artist, Fini’s “Meccanimus” follows a cyborg navigating a city now reclaimed by nature. Exploring themes of loneliness and self-discovery in a world without set roles, the cyborg attempts to figure things out as there are no defined purposes in this world. The video poses reflection on the potential harmony between technology and nature, offering a glimpse into the implications of our technological future.
Yeo Ker Siang
“The Audience Comes First” by Singaporean artist Yeo Ker Siang
Singaporean artist Yeo Ker Siang will showcase his work, “The Audience Comes First,” at this year’s exhibition. Yeo seeks to transform the audience’s perspectives into an immersive, collaborative creation by blending the starbursts of the LED lights that line the Marina Bay Street Circuit with tools like Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs). This interactive piece gives guests the freedom to shape the outcome of the artwork through their creative prompts, making them an integral part of the artistic process.
Jake Tan
“MR(AI)” by Singaporean artist, Jake Tan
Singaporean artist Jake Tan often explores the themes of nature, technology, and society into his creations. “MR(AI)” visualises the real-time fluctuations of his heart rate amidst the excitement of the Singapore Formula 1 event. This piece invites reflection on a world where human feelings and data are shaped by machine learning.
A Vision for the Future
In an era defined by climate change, sustainability efforts, and AI, this art exhibition aims to foster dialogue on pressing issues. By examining the relationship between technology and human existence, “Art in Motion: AI Creatives at the Singapore Night Race” seeks to illuminate pathways to a more sustainable future, where generative AI becomes a catalyst for innovation and responsible progress.
Given the exhibition’s compelling nature, it has garnered significant support from numerous sponsors. The exhibition’s inclusion in the official Grand Prix Season Singapore (GPSS24) program by the Singapore Tourism Board further highlights its prominence as one of the most innovative and captivating art events in Singapore.
Furthermore, it is included in the SG Gallery Month organized by Art Galleries Association Singapore (AGAS).
