Silvia Bigi was born in Ravenna in 1985. She graduated at DAMS in Bologna, obtained a  MBA at Adams Experimental Centre in Rome, and she continued with a course at the International Center of Photography of  New York. The memory of traumatic events, gender identity and the impact that family structures and cultural traditions have on the individuals are among the issues questioned in her works. Her work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions, in Italy and abroad. In 2017 she was selected for an art residency at Bòlit, the Contemporary Art Centre of Catalonia and the Chambre Blanche, Québec. In 2018 she was a finalist for the Combat and Francesco Fabbri prizes, winner of the Nocivelli Award and one of ten artists selected for the Organ Vida International Festival. Her work was included in the Engaged, Active, Aware exhibition. She won the Lucie Award in the ‘Best Exhibition’ category and was selected by Diane Dufour and Mike Trow for the Der Greif and World Photography Organisation.
