The Arts House, Singapore, on the occasion of the Formula 1 Grand Prix 2024

Over the past few years, the Dino Zoli Foundation has collaborated with DZeAsia (a subsidiary of Zoli Group specializing in illumination and telecommunication systems at the Marina Bay circuit) in curating art exhibitions as side-events of the Formula 1 Grand Prix.

Continuing this tradition, Dino Zoli Foundation and DZeAsia are now working on the project “Art in Motion: AI Creatives at the Singapore Night Race”, that will feature the digital artworks of a selection of Italian and Singaporean artists experimenting innovative AI tools.

Lately, Artificial Intelligence has raised as a massive discussion topic in the public debate: it was even named “the word of the year” 2023 by Collins Dictionary. The fast spread of these digital tools are affecting every sector of our life, including arts. This symbiotic relationship between artists and AI is forging innovative pathways and creating a new lexicon of aesthetic languages that challenge traditional paradigms of art production and consumption. By leveraging AI’s ability to process and generate complex patterns, artists are experimenting with novel forms of visual, auditory, and experiential art that push the boundaries of human imagination.

The art collective exhibition “Art in Motion” will delve deep into the innovative intersections between advanced artificial intelligence and digital artistry, focusing on how new-generation AI artists harness these technologies. It aims to explore and showcase the unique ways these artists engage with AI, particularly within the context of the thrilling F1 Singapore Grand Prix—an event synonymous with speed, precision, and technological achievement, celebrating not just its aesthetic and mechanical beauty but also its symbolic representation of human ingenuity and the relentless pursuit of advancement.

Themes are shaped and/or transformed through the use of GANs, algorithms, and Generative AIs, blending electronic art, glitch art, augmented reality, virtual reality, and other expressive forms of the digital era.By blending these sophisticated forms of digital expression, the exhibition seeks to to highlight how generative AI can be a tool for creativity, offering novel opportunities for artistic expression and engagement. In doing so, it positions itself at the forefront of a movement that is redefining the boundaries of art, technology, and society against the vibrant backdrop of Singapore Grand Prix.

The merging of diverse backgrounds and perspectives of the artists involved promises to create a unique and stimulating dialogue within the art world. Artists will have the opportunity to learn from one another, exchange ideas, and collaborate in ways that transcend geographical and cultural differences.

The art project will be supported and promoted by Embassy of Italy, EuroCham, and the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Singapore and it is selected by STB and GPSS for the official programme of the F1 GP 2024.
